Of all the virtue signaling during the pandemic, falling somewhere in the Top 3 was Neil Young pulling all his music off of Spotify due to podcaster Joe Rogan's, quote, "misinformation." Outside of those of us who have a copy of After the Gold Rush on vinyl and weren't affected, reaction was a combination of "meh" and "what's a Neil Young?" Now Rogan is getting the last laugh as Young has returned to the streaming service, possibly with a new album entitled "Alone with my principles." #NameThatMovie

It's quaint to think about, as various flashback apps remind us that we are on the fourth anniversary of the start of quarantine.

Our story begins on day 291 + 15 days to flatten the curve. Neil Young announced he was pulling all his music off of Spotify because they platformed Joe Rogan.

I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines–potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them. ... They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.

Everyone said, "OK, boomer," and chose Rogan. Shocked that his stunt didn't work, Young went so far as to claim Rogan willfully lies to his audience and called on Spotify employees to quit to "Save their souls."

It forced Rogan to release a video explaining what a podcast was.

I'm not a doctor. I'm not a scientist. I'm just a person who sits down with people and has conversations with them. Do I get things wrong? Absolutely. [...] But I try to correct them. [...] I'm interested in having interesting conversations with people that have differing opinions. I'm not interested in only talking to people that have one perspective.

Fast forward two years later. Rogan is still the top podcaster in the game and re-signed with Spotify for a buttload more of money.

Young has now announced he is returning to Spotify, claiming other streaming services "have started serving the same disinformation podcast I had opposed" and that “Because I cannot leave all those services like I did Spotify, because my music would have no streaming outlet to music lovers at all, I have returned."

Joe was quite amused. "Great to know you got some ethics.”

There isn't much to look back on and laugh about. Most of what happened should be a warning and a wake-up call of what The Left would do to America with full control of our government. See: Australia, The Glorified Penal Colony of. We can all laugh at Neil Young and the silly virtue-signaling of celebrities. If there is one thing left to unite us as Americans, it's that.
